This summer, the Impact Mission Camp was in Danville and they came to House of Hope! Impact is a youth-oriented construction-based camp primarily who have finished grades 6-12. Campers come from a variety of churches in the region and volunteer to help paint fences, install windows, repair siding, and many other things – all for homeowners that are struggling to get much-needed maintenance for their homes. We may not be ‘homeowners’ in the traditional sense, but our shelter does become ‘home’ for many people who, unfortunately, don’t have one.
So, Impact came to help! Over one week in July, they painted our lounge, dining area, kitchen, bathrooms, cabinets, and even invited all of us to dinner. Not only did they do good work with all their painting, but it was great to see campers investing their time and energy in our shelter. And we are grateful to give them a firsthand experience of some of the work we do at House of Hope and an opportunity to positively impact their lives as well.
